Another tragedy hit the Philippines. MV Princess of the Star was turned upside down during the typhoon Frank. 800 something passengers and crews are still missing. As to date, there are only about 30 survivors who managed to jump off the ship before it was tossed down by giant waves.
Sea tragedies are not new in our country, it often occur during typhoons or due to negligence of the owners. About 20 typhoons are passing through our country each year. As with this latest sea tragedy, the Sulpicio Lines (owner of Princess of the Stars) are said to be held responsible for the victims.
Earlier, while I was having my lunch, I saw the news about a man who went to the tower of Sulpicio Lines to protest or to be heard of his anguish. After a negotiation from a representative of Sulpicio Lines, the man agreed to step down under one condition: that is to identify personally in Cebu his relatives who are among the missing passengers. There are hundreds of relatives of the missing passengers and crew who flocked to the terminal to get news but they said, they got nothing from the employees or representatives of Sulpicio Lines.
With this tragedy, please pray for the victims and their families and let us hope that they may still find many survivors.
Sino po ba ang dapat managot sa naganap na sakuna?papayagan pa po bang maglayag ang anumang shipping vessel kahit may bagyo?
Since the tragedy, GMA reportedly announced that shipping lines are not permitted to sail when there is a typhoon even it is only signal no. 1. According to news, Sulpicio lines provided Php200,000.00 for the family of each victim but many refused the stated money.
