Meteor Garden Filipino Version

Marimar, My Name is Kim Sam Soon, My Girl, I Love Betty La Fea, and Lalola - these localized version are today’s hype among primetime television. It is so that many asianovela fanatics are wondering, why not the two giant networks (ABS-CBN 2 and GMA-7) consider a Meteor Garden Filipino Version?

I remember, I was so crazy over Meteor Garden then, that I was so happy when my brother went to Hongkong and bought me the original soundtrack of Meteor Garden. Me and my sister even posted F4 pictures in our room! LOL! Anyway, Meteor Garden was a phenomenal hit in the Philippines when it started to air on April of 2001. I believe this Taiwanese drama started the asianovela craze that is very apparent until now. I think ABS-CBN should consider a remake of it since they were the first to broadcast Meteor Garden.

Alex Gonzaga (Toni Gonzaga’s sister) recently expresses her wish to portray a role like Shan Cai (Barbie Xu) in Meteor Garden. But I think, Kim Chiu suits the role of Shan Cai and of course, Gerald as Dao Ming Si (Jerry Yan). Considering the fact also that Kim-Gerald tandem has been tested and earned a lot of fans.

If ABS-CBN will make a Filipino version of Meteor Garden, I hope they will consider the following cast:

Hua Zi Lei (Vic Zhou): Enchong Dee

Vaness Wu (Mei Zuo Ling): David Chua

Xi Men (Ken Chu): Matt Evans (any other suggestions?)

Xiaoyu: Alex Gonzaga

i think si sarah g. na ang napili ng abs para sa role na san chai tapos nakahanap na rin sila ng artist para gumanap ng role for F4… i already seen the vids. sa youtube. pero ‘di pa nila pinapakita kung sino ang nga artist para gaganap para sa iba pang roles.

i think that it would be better for the remake to have fresh/new faces. Look at Marimar and May bukas pa. It was loved by the Pinoys because the main roles are newbies (but really good actors). I think they should just cast an audition open for everyone so that they can search for new ones fit to play the roles. . the role of Jan Di/ Makino/ San Chai should atleast be 1st: the lead girl should be atleast 5ft-5′2 in height and she should still look small even in heels 2nd: should be a newbie (as in wala pang nagging show even extra or magazines), I guess people would be bored na if they would put in the popular ones 3rd: we’re trying to make a PINOY version right? If we’re trying to make our PINOY version, why not let pure pinoy be in the show. 4: Pick a girl who looks strong-willed but yet innocent. 5: Makino/Jandi/ San chai’s is described in the manga as a “not-so-beautiful” girl. Get a simple beauty. A beauty that can still be enhanced not the already beautiful ones. Sana young ones. Mga 18-22 na age sana tapos High school setting para mas enjoy.

Please, CONSIDER THE ABILITIES of the actors/actresses who will play a role if they can really act the way their characters should act, or if it’s reall “BAGAY” for them (meaning they don’t look like engot, or shongga, or OA when they act), not because they’re the network’s royalties or the most famous in the country. This story has been part of the Asian culture already, so if Philippines will be trying to make a version, I hope it would be great. And they should aim for the Pinoys to appreciate it, not to have a “BETTER VERSION” than the past ones. Every version is nice because it shows every country’s culture and it’s beautiful places, it’s problems, and it’s great actors/actresses and directors. And not make the drama/story OA/corny. Stick to the plot, and try to make new episodes to watch. I hope that no one would die, no one would be shot by a gun, don’t make it the usual moments that happens in our dramas. Make it a comedy/romance/drama/ and a little thrilling. And also, it doesn’t need for the chosen actors/actress to be a “KAMUKHA” of an actor/actress from the previous versions. Not “parang Korean sya, not mukha kasi syang Chinese.” Let’s have our own flavor of the characters. And I hope, mga GWAPO talaga at MATATANGKAD ang gaganap na F4. Don’t break the tradition. It’s an element of all the versions.
