David Cook sung Roberta Flack’s The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. All the judges approved his arrangement on this song that Simon Cowell even considered it as his best performance ever. I still think Always Be My Baby is his best performance though. But I heard some negative issues regarding Cook. Some says he is just FAKE. He only acts charming and too good to be true on stage but in reality, he is otherwise. And he also claimed that he does all his song arrangements but that is just not true also. Can these be just distractions from other fans of the other top three? Anyway, here’s his performance on American Idol Top 3 night:

Lyrics of: First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the empty skies, my love,
To the dark and the empty skies.

I heard that David Cook will sing Roberta Flock’s The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face tonight on American Idol. Like Mariah’s Always Be My Baby, David will add twist to this mellow song by making it into alternative, as his trademark.

Is he going to rock the audience tonight? I believe his performance on Mariah’s night is his best performance ever. I hope he will surpass that.

So who’s gonna go home tonight? I bet it’s either Syesha Mercado or Jason Castro, but more likely it’s Jason. It would be another surprise elimination if we see David Archuleta or David Cook get boot off. I hope TALENT prevails over POPULARITY. VOTES really count on this show, not the contestants’ talent, otherwise, Michael Johns or Carly Smithson would be in the picture not Syesha and Jason.

David Cook’s rendition of Mariah’s song Always Be My Baby hit the airwaves fast and it is the most favorite and requested song. I really like how he delivered it, I even downloaded it to my Ipod. :)

Definitely, Cook will be on American Idol top 3. He is not much of an attraction at first as I only see him as another rocker-wannabe. But after singing Always Be My Baby, he became the hunk of American Idol season 7. I think, it would be David A versus David C on the final bout. ;)

David Archuleta picked Love Me Tender by Elvis Presley. I like David, but I think his performance last night was pretty boring. His voice is good at ballads but not on rock and roll. There are many rock and roll songs to choose at but the American Idol Top 4 had bad choices I think.

Love Me Tender lyrics:

Love me tender,
Love me sweet,
Never let me go.
You have made my life complete,
And I love you so.

I totally agree with Randy Jackson’s comment, David Cook should have chosen a really rock and roll song instead of Duran Duran’s “Hungry like the Wolf”. He has a vocal like a rock star, which reminds me of Chris Daughtry. It was ok though but not quite appealing to me.

Hungry like the Wolf lyrics:

(ha ha)

Dark in the city, night is a wire
Steam in the subway, earth is a fire
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do do, do do
Woman you want me, give me a sign
And catch my breathing even closer behind
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do do, do do

This is definitely not Jason Castro’s best performance. He only got Bob Marley’s hair but he messed up his song. I think Syesha Mercado will be on the top 3, lucky gal. Anyway, here’s the lyrics:

Oh my God, I thought you sing twice

Too much gold on her attire, perhaps? Rumors had it that Paula’s either drunk or had taken drugs that night.

Brook White sang I’m a Believer and I am…I said, her choices of Neil Diamond’ songs. I’m still a big fan of her but David Archuleta is still the best. Here’s the video and lyrics:

I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me
Love was out to get me
Thats the way it seemed
Disappointment haunted all my dreams

David Archuleta is brilliant as always though I don’t really dig Neil Diamond’s songs. Here’s his video and lyrics of Sweet Caroline and America:

Lyrics of Sweet Caroline:

Where it began
I can’t begin to knowin’
but then I know it’s growin’ strong.
