Another Filipino pride – Thia Megia, a 15 year old lass from California, made it as one of the 24 finalists of American Idol Season 10.
Thia Megia reminds me of Lea Salonga, she has a perfect pitch tone. Even the American Idol judges were wowed by her performance as the top 12 female contestants took stage.
Another Filipina is making waves in the international scene, Maria Aragon, a fifth grade student who lives in Canada. Aragon became an instant celebrity when she posted her beautiful rendition of Born This Way by Lady Gaga in You Tube. Lady Gaga twitted the video and in just five days, it garnered 10 million hits!
It’s the start of American Idol 2011′s audition. One remarkable audition is at Milwaukee when a contestant named Chris Medina appeared on Wednesday’s try out.
Chris Medina is a 26-year old barista from Illinois. She brought along his girlfriend, Julia Ramos and presented to the judges – Tyler, Jackson and Lopez. She serves as his inspiration for the audition. They were about to marry but a car accident happened and left Julia Ramos with a brain damage.
Some were touched by their story while others thought it was inappropriate and judged that it was pity who led him to Hollywood.

Football in the Philippines is not widely recognized until Azkals or The Philippine National Men’s Football Team made it to the news. The Azkals put the Philippines’ name in the international football scene when they defeated Vietnam to reach the semi-finals in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup.
Though they lost against Indonesia, the Azkals are determined to make football popularize in the Philippines such as how we greatly patronize basketball and boxing. Popular members of the Azkals are siblings James and Phil Younghusband, and Neil Etheridge. Phil Younghusband already appeared in National Television via Celebrity Duets Season I as one of the celebrity contestants.

Antonio Margarito mocks Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach by making fun of the latter’s Parkinson’s Disease. Brandon Rios was also seen making faces and stutters while talking. It was caught on video and has made a trend in the net.
It was reported that Margarito’s trainer, Robert Garcia, already apologized for the video and was quoted saying:
“This was nothing to do with the disease that Freddie Roach has. We know it’s something that we don’t wish nobody,” Garcia said. “It’s something personal, something between Team Pacquiao and Team Margarito. I just wanted to make that clear.”
I’m not buying Garcia’s lame excuse, so is Freddie Roach himself. What it has to do with Team Pacquiao and Team Margarito? Clearly, it was mocking a person’s disease that Garcia even said – a disease that nobody would not want to wish for. Team Margarito should focus on the tough fight with Manny Pacquiao, and not devote their time making fun of other people’s disease.

ABS-CBN’s He’s Beautiful has finally caught my attention! It is also known as You’re Beautiful or A.N. Jell. It was released last year in Korea and it was a big hit. This year, ABS-CBN bought the rights to be shown here in the Philippines. The main casts are:
Park Sin Hye - the cute leading lady who disguises as her twin brother in He’s Beautiful. She plays Go Mi Nam (the twin brother) and Go Mi Nyu (as the twin sister). In the story, she will fall in love with Hwang Tae Kyung (Jang Geun Suk). At first, I thought she was Yoon Eun Hye,(who acted as a guy also in Coffee Prince) they look so alike!
