After the much awaited fight of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. was called off, Pacquiao’s promoter moved on to challenge another boxer, Joshua Clottey. A New York resident, but hails from Ghana, Clottey is the former IBF Welterweight champion. His boxing record consists of 35 wins and 3 losses, including his recent fight with Miguel Cotto last June 2009. In this match, Cotto won the WBO Welterweight title with a split decision.

Pacquiao versus Clottey fight is scheduled on March 13, 2010.

November 14, 2009-Manny Pacquiao will be seen on the boxing arena again, but not with the much anticipated fight versus Floyd Mayweather Jr. This time, he will be facing Puerto Rico’s most popular boxer, Miguel Cotto.
Miguel Cotto, 29, began his professional career in 2001. On September 11, 2004, he defeated Kelson Pinto for the WBO junior welterweight championship. He defended the title successfully a total of six times, before vacating it when he ascended to the welterweight division. On his first match on this division he defeated Carlos Quintana for the vacant WBA welterweight championship. Cotto successfully defended this title against Oktay Urkal, Zab Judah, Shane Mosley and Alfonso Gómez, before losing it to Antonio Margarito. The fight will be at 145 lbs and it will be held at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao won the most anticipated rematch in the history of boxing, in a split decision. Both Judges scored 115-112 and 114-113 for Pacquiao while another judge had it 115-112 in favor of Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez.

But controversies regarding the fight is still going around and outside the boxing ring. Obviously, Marquez’ camp are not happy with the result as they expected that Marquez won the fight, that they requested for another rematch but Pacquiao’s promoter claimed that it was over and clearly, Pacquiao won the rematch. They would rather have a fight with David Diaz.
